for everyone

As promised, i upload the results of my second theme for Sinulog 2008.

For the unfortunate souls who thought that you have had enough of bright colors just by being in Manila, you obviously haven't been to the event that only the creativity and talent of the Cebuanos can conjure up. Here are just some samples.

Taken with a Nikon 80-200 f/2.8 mounted on a D50, and a Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 mounted on a D80.

THE BEAUTIES OF CEBU, AND THE BEAUTY THAT IS CEBU. THE PHILIPPINES SHOULD BE PROUD.

The second of two parts of my Faces theme.

Shots came from a Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 mounted on a D80, most often on aperture priority mode at f/4.0. The D80 was on More Vivid camera setting. Why? I just thought it would bring out the colors of a colorful event even more.

I got the 24-70 a day before i left for Cebu. I was pleasantly surprised by its great bokeh.

Your comments (good and bad) are much appreciated to help me improve in my craft. Thanks in advance. :)

THE BEAUTIES OF CEBU, AND THE BEAUTY THAT IS CEBU. THE PHILIPPINES SHOULD BE PROUD.

I had two themes in shooting the Sinulog (the Sto. Nino Festival in Cebu): Faces and Colors.

The difficulty in doing this shoot was heightened by: (i) the need for the dancers to move forward constantly towards the sports center, where the judging was to be done; (ii) the need for the dancers to "show off" some of their 'steps' to the people watching at street-level, thus they could be in motion at any given time. You could literally get run over!; and (iii) the presence of other photographers, who could sometimes fail to notice that you were taking a picture or, worse, crowd you out of your shot. This experience of thinking quickly and snapping that photo quicker than that would, IMO, come in handy when i do decide to go into events/weddings.

These shots were taken with a Nikon 80-200mm (dual ring) mounted on a D50. Mostly shot at Aperture priority of f/4.0.

Your comments (good and bad) are most welcome so that i may improve my craft. Thanks in advance!
