The excerpt of PGMA's interview with dzRH on 24th February 2008 goes:

JOE TARUC: "So ibig sabihin kanselado na yong project?"
PGMA: "Kanselado na iyon, matagal na. Oras nga na may sumbong sa akin, tinignan ko na iyong paraan kung papaano kanselahin. Nagsumbong sa akin the night before the signing of the supply contract pero hindi pa naman kasi -- that was only one of many signings. So, papaano mo naman makakansel the night before, meron kang ibang bansang kausap. So, tinuloy yong signing pero sa unang pagkakataon, kinausap ko kaagad iyong pangulo ng China para sabihin sa kanya na kailangan kanselahin iyong proyekto."

The contract was signed in April 2007. It was canceled by PGMA only in October 2007 at the height of the expose made by Jose de Venecia III. "Sa unang pagkakataon"? I don't think so.

Also in the middle of Joey's expose, Malacanang claimed to have conducted an 'internal investigation' and blaringly announced that they did not find anything anomalous with the contract. DOTC Sec. Leandro Mendoza and his subordinates then declared before the Senate that the contract was "above-board". (N.B. When asked, none of the Palace functionaries such as Mendoza, Formoso et al. had knowledge of such an internal inquiry). Now she says that she was informed of an anomaly and that "(T)iningnan ko iyong paraan kung papaano kanselahin"? I don't think so.

Then-NEDA Secretary Neri testified that he had informed PGMA of a Php200M bribe offer to him way back in December 2006. "Nagsumbong sa akin the night before the signing of the supply contract" in April 2007? I don't think so.

When a president is informed of an anomaly in a government contract, he/she must act swiftly so as not to prejudice the country. The excuse that "meron kang ibang bansang kausap" is sooooo lame since "that was only one of many signings", i.e., one unsigned contract would not have amounted to a big loss of face; further, PGMA had no compunction of cancelling this same contract 6 months after. Isn't it that "meron kang ibang bansang kausap"? Why cancel if everything was above-board? Why cancel if it would amount to a loss of face?

Nahuhuli ang isda sa sariling bibig. For the next couple of days, watch the Palace spinmeisters try to get their boss "off the hook" (pun intended). However, the truth cannot be hidden from the Filipino people. The fact that she is caught lying instead of going hammer and tongs on the real culprits as revealed by De Venecia III, Lozada and (now) Madriaga [WHAAAT?! A US$41Million advance commission??!] creates the legal presumption that she is in conspiracy with the actual perpetrators.

Sobra na, tama na, kumilos na.

I had time to burn today, so i thought of putting my fisheye lens to good use. Lemme see.... How about a lightning raid along Ayala Avenue, avoid roadkill and take a couple of shots of the tall buildings along Ayala before the security guards become wiser? Seemed like a good idea. But as fate would have it, a coupla hundred photographers had the same idea, and brought along some of their multi-colored friends with them. Duhhhhh.....

Oh well. The pics are self-explanatory. Paging CHED Chairman Romulo Neri: magpaka-lalaki ka na; magsalita ka na. At kay Ben Abalos: Penge naman ng pambili ng D3 o!

Cameras: D300 and D80. Lenses: Sigma 15mm f/2.8 fisheye a.k.a. "Nemo", Sigma 24-70 f/2.8, and Nikon 80-200 f/2.8. Due to the inclement weather, EV at +0.7 and cameras at Aperture priority 2.8.
