A devoted husband, and a barkada to his kids... thinks that being in God's grace is the best thing in this world... super proud of his youth choir members... musically inclined... intense in everything he does whether in sports or his profession... measures 'success in life' by the number of friends he has... loves the simple things in life like Jollibee burger steak, banana cue, fishballs, buko salad and dirty ice cream... real shy in person, but super warm and alaskador to friends... a certified iPod freak. loves converting DVD's to mp4's so it can be played in iPod video's... contrary to public perception, is deathly scared of cameras and microphones ... hates the limelight... perceived as pro-Erap, but is really a Coryista...Is currently hooked on photography, and is seriously making plans to put up a digital company to nurture his creative expression.<br><br>His main webpage is http://web.mac.com/raymond42n

Huwag na Akong Takutin -- Kasi Matagal na akong Takot

Congressman Homobono Adaza is one of my childhood heroes. My memory of him is still fresh -- he was the most vociferous, meticulous and most powerful voice of the Opposition during the counting of the votes of candidate Corazon C. Aquino and Pres. Marcos at the Batasang Pambansa in 1986. Bono would note for the record each and every defect in the certificate of canvass being tabulated by Congress, each defect being a sufficient ground to defer the CoC until the violations of electoral law could be verified or explained. However, in each instance, then-Speaker Nicanor Yniguez would merely say: "Asterix!" [NOTE: This is not a typo; Yniguez would, time and again, mispronounce the word "asterisked". This verbal flub was the most infamous parliamentary act, until it was upstaged by "Noted!" during the 2004 Presidential canvass.] When Marcos was declared winner of the 1986 elections by a highly partisan Congress, i cried myself to sleep.<br>Congressman Homobono Adaza is one of my heroes...

OTS at Pipho Anniversary

On 28th June 2008, the pinoyphotography.org (PiPho) celebrated its 3rd anniversary. Part of the festivities was an on-the-spot contest involving participating models on the theme, "Beauty at Tiendesitas".

Due to the number of participants, groups were formed for each model. I was honored to have been chosen to lead one of the groups. As group leader, however, i was tasked to set up the model's poses and lighting, while everyone else got to snap away. As it were, i didn't do too much shooting.

I took a grand total of THREE (3) shots. The OTS contest provided that you can submit only 1 entry. I chose the second photograph here. That photograph was chosen as 1 of the 6 finalists out of more than 150 entries (nope, i didn't win the top prize). I felt that this was a significant achievement, considering that i was up against more than 200 photographers who had a wider array of shots to choose from.

Model is Alyssa. Shot at 5:41PM with a Canon 1D Mark III and a 70-200mm f/2...

It's Official -- I'm a Wedding Photographer

Having a tight budget and a church under construction is no problem when there is a whole lot of love -- and a skillful artist to color the event. This is my first engagement as the principal fotog in a wedding.

Teammates: Abet Antonio, Jok Vega, Mike Natividad, Mickey Espeleta

This album already reveals my penchant for breaking conventional wisdom through psychedelic colors, crazy angles and crazier poses. PARC Cruz says i have an 'eye' for landscapes. I object -- the landscape 'eye' is honed only to see better angles in weddings.

I take this opportunity to thank my masters -- Ross Capili, Frank Dizon, and Bien Bautista -- for their words of wisdom and inspiration. I would also like to thank all those who had shared their thoughts and comments in previous a...

Photography In the Greater Scheme of Things

A good friend recently sent me this text: "Those who joyfully leave everything in God's hand will eventually see God's hand in everything. Worry ends where Faith begins."<br>I had often wondered how i had risen from relative obscurity to prominence (albeit with accompanying notoriety). My religious upbringing and, later, adherence to the principles of a Catholic religious group made me understand that everything had a purpose, and was merely a part of God's plan. To paraphrase a song, i am but a speck in the greater scheme of things. This enables me to keep my feet squarely on the ground; to accept that fame is fleeting and worldly; to embrace humility as a God-sent virtue; and to submit myself to whatever comes my way as being part of the path to Heaven.<br>Sometime early this year, i had wanted to embark on a different field -- into the world of photography. The plans were sound, and the timetables were attainable. However, even the best-laid plans cannot bear fruit without God's bless...

The KIA Models @ Metrobar

Taken during the Viva Hot Babes Lingerie Show on 5th June 2008.

If these ladies would sit beside you in the car, would you bring a KIA home? :) :) :)

70-200mm f/2.8 IS on a Canon 40D. Ambient lighting only (no flash). For those who don't know what that means, try taking a shot -- any shot -- without a flash at night. If you come up with a blurry image, then that is quite understandable. To produce these images of moving subjects without the aid of a flash to "freeze" the action, you need a "fast" lens, a camera with a quick autofocus, and a steady hand or

Strobist Shots in Puerto Galera

Taken during the summer outing of the San Martin de Porres Youth Choir on 23rd-25th May 2008 at Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro, Philippines.

The scenery pales in comparison to Bora, and the weather wasn't cooperating for me to come up with good sunrises/sunsets. It wasn't a total loss, however. Not with people who were camera hogs to begin with. Just played around with strobist shots as practice for pre-nups.

Canon 17-85 IS USM on a Canon 40D; Speedlite 580EX
